Hearing a slight chatter at the shooting range you round the corner and hope to find Stanley and Xeno testing out a new gun prototype and instead see Charlotte standing way to close to Stanley; shes practically on top of him and he doesnt even seem to notice. You lean up on the wall and watch them for a while, at some point Charlotte notices you and narrows her eyes before leaning on Stanley even more. You sigh out and decide that enough is enough and walk away; Xeno and Brody would propbably be better company anyway.

Stanley Tells Charlotte to ease up on his arm, and she backs on with a slight pout before pretending like nothing happened. He shakes his head and glances over to where he thought he heard some noise, but he only catches a flash of fabric. He sighs through his nose and goes back to practicing with Charlotte; he'll come and find you after he gets her off his back. Maybe you'll do some target practice instead.

You knock on the iron door and then poke your head in and find Xeno writing notes, when you get a bit closer he glances up for a quick second and gives you a small greeting and motions for you to have a seat with him. You lay your head on your arms watching him work and starting to relax, you huff quietly thinking about Stan and how he didnt even seem to care at how on top of him she was; you bury your head further in your jacket; the writing noises stop and the sound of a chair sliding against the floor is made.

"When you normally come into the lab, you ask what I'm doing thirty seconds after observing your surroundings." He sets down a mug of coffee and holds his own; you sit up and mess with the 'x' mark on the cup before taking a sip; you look up from the mug to the doctor in front of you and see him watching you intently. He raises an eyebrow, and you finally break and tell him everything; he nods along, and before he can give you any advice, there's a knock at the door again, and the man of the hour comes in.

"Hey, I was looking for you," Stanley tells you while petting your hair; you shy away from his touch and pretend it's not on purpose. He watches you for a moment and then talks to Xeno about the gun while still trying to hold you close without upsetting you further. You spend most of the conversation spaced out and only perk up when Stan wraps his arm around your waist.

"Why don't we get lunch?" He offers to both of you, but Xeno declines while giving you a pointed look, and you try your best not to smile at his subtle encouragement. Both of you say goodbye and promise to bring him a snack later and trek to the meal hall. During the walk, you build up the courage to hold his hand, but before you can, you get interrupted by the same problem from earlier.

"Captain, on the way to lunch?" Her butting in is starting to piss you off now. Stan gives her a polite yes, and she glances over at you.

"Would you like some company?" she offers to him while stepping closer, and of course, this idiot agrees, not seeing anything wrong with it; the rest of the walk there, she places herself right in between the two of you. You're currently trying to decide whether to flip out or pull out your hair. You walk away from them and grab your own food, and at the last minute, grab Stanley some. Charlotte can get her food herself. You set down his meal and sit across from him since she has to be beside him.

"You gonna get some food, Charlotte?" He asks while taking note of you only grabbing him and yourself a meal. She shrugs before looking at his plate and then giving him a little bump.

"Won't you share a bit of yours, captain?" She asks while giving herself the go-ahead to eat some of his bread; he doesn't react, so you do so for both of them.

"Here have mine, Ms. Bony. I lost my appetite." You shove the tray over to her and walk off. You hear a call of your name but ignore it and continue to walk, picking up your pace a bit so he doesn't catch up. You end up in your shared room with him and sit down on the bed for a bit; an intense flash of rage overtakes you, and you grab a bag and start shoving stuff inside of it. 'Just because she has known him longer doesn't mean she can treat you like that, and he shouldn't let her do that.' You grumble out, so wrapped up in yourself you don't hear the door open and close behind you. A hand on your shoulder snaps you out of your thoughts, and you scream out. Stanley puts his hands up in an apology for scaring you; you calm your heart and go back to packing.

"Going somewhere?" He sits on the bed by your half-full bag.

"I'm staying with Luna for a few days." You harshly offer him, and he sighs and lights a smoke. He grabs your hands and pulls you into his lap, resting his head on top of yours. He lets you struggle against him until you relax.

" 'm sorry, doll," he whispers in your hair, and you scoff. He takes the smoke out of his mouth and offers it to you, and you snatch it angrily.

"I told her off." That makes you look up at him,

"I should have made her stop sooner; I was just used to her oddness about me. But that's no excuse, so I apologize." You nod along while shoving your face in his chest; he starts to put his hands up your clothes and then removes your shirt, leaving purple lips on your bare skin.

"Let me make it up to you."

There’s a lot I’ll be real, from the way de explores how one’s upbringing makes the person they end up being, to the themes of self discovery, the way it explores queer identity and how being a queer cop inherently pits you against and alienates you from thw queer community, to the way it explores the way one could become a class traitor, the way it tackles addiction, what i believe to be one of the best representations of systems, the way he allows for exploration of a religion as a methaphor for love which drives me NUTS, the funny silly jokes he does, his silly personality, ecc, there is one thing that stands out to me. The way Disco Elysium portrays interpersonal relationships when you’re depressed.

This isn’t subtext, it’s text that’s Harry is depressed, from the way he interacts with fhe dead body

Like istg. One of the most impactful moments of the entire game was that fucking letter. Most ppl focus on the “you have a vast vast soul and I’ll always come back to it” but i genuenly. The first part, its fhe best representation of how it is to love someone who’s depressed. Its even my alarm!

There’s this gentleness in it all. I can’t explain it other than as someone who’s depressed dating someone who isn’t, it feels like that, that what it feels like. Especially when you throw suicidality into the mix, it makes this cocktail of what you’d except to be met with “you cannot love others until you love yourself” mentally thats rlly prevalent nowdays

And dont get me wrong, you need to know your self worth to be in healthy relationships, but as a depressed person, you ARE worth love, you ARE worth people’s affection. Harry gets to be depressed and you get to see it, he gets to be an addict, and Kim still loves him.

Its this, thing, that Harry isnt a burden to kim, it isnt just kim that changes Harry’s life, its also the opposite. Kim gets to loosen up around Harry, the trajectory of his life is just as changed as Harry’s is, they become inseparable. Harry is depressed and he also gets to crack silly jokes and like disco music.

Ofc Harry isnt loved by everyone, thats not my argument, its the interpersonal relationship aspect of it that makes me go :,). I like seeing depressed people who Aren’t improving get that level of respect in their relationships. It feels like the former means they dont deserve the latter, which isnt true: again working on yourself is important, but its undeniable that during low points there’s not much wiggle room, sure a lot of people help themselves up, and that’s incredible, but a lot of people need a hand, and that’s important too

This is also why i hateeee those jokes that are like Kim deserves better or Kim is out of his reach (or god for id “he hasnt showered since dora left him” genuinely i hate you hahahah depressed man is unsanitary get it?? Cause struggling with hygiene is a moral failing!!! Im so funny) because it ignores their dynamic in the game. Kim is a man that built his walls to withstand ANYTHING, he doesnt let himself get close, he TOO is repressed

with this life its almost like theyre married, and ford with his still huge and untainted feelings on his brother is kind of giddy about it.

old ford is ofc an asshole who wants to burst his bubble so bad but cant do that so is pushing him away instead by locking himself down at the basement to send a way to send his younger self back. this ends up being so great for teen!ford and for stan tho. teen!ford gets to hang out with stanley— and moses stanley grew up incredibly well. all chiseled and huge and looking INCREDIBLY good in and out of the suit. especially out when he realizes stanley turned out to be an incredibly hot bear when he sees his belly out and hes just. not normal about it. hed be on stans side like glue and is just ENAMOURED by him.

I saw a gwynriel stating that SJM wouldn’t be that stupid to add Gwyn into the BC if she didn’t plan on her ending up with Azriel (…okay), essentially saying, why add Gwyn in the BC at all. Just out of curiosity, why do you think she added Gwyn and had her and Azriel interact? And then also have Az for some reason giving the necklace to Clotho for Gwyn (or any other priestess (funny how no gwynriel ever mentions how unromantic that is but whatever))

As an author, what do I want most?

For people to talk about my books, participating in discussions surrounding my book to make it more popular - which will generate more readers making me more rich.

4 years later and Azriels bonus is still being discussed. Sjm has given the acotar fandom nothing for the past 4 whole years and yet this fandom is still so active, why? Bcs Sjms books are polarising. They create heavy discussions that never die off.

A key thing to remember- Azriel has always been loved by the acotar fandom. His story was in demand and Mass knows how badly people want his pov or book. Mass also knows how much hate Elriel received. If she didnt add in Gwyn - the buzz around the next book would have went stale pretty soon. Yet by adding Gwyn - she gave elriel antis something to talk about. Which they have. For 4 years. Its a red herring- something an author does to create a little doubt just to get people in their fandom talking.

And it clearly worked. She did the same with having Emerie appear in Cassians pov during acofas - it threw anti nessians off and made them believe Emerie would be the other woman in Nessians love story or another potential LI for Cass.

In Azriels case, it blew out of proportion due to how loved Az is and how hated Elain is. No one wanted meek, boring Elain to be with Azriel. Therefore the minute a single, straight woman came along - people shipped Gwyn and Az. If there had been another single, straight woman warrior in acosf who interacted with Az, guess what? Her and Az would have also been shipped.

How many peoppe jumped onto the brycerial bandwagon? It just goes to show anti elriels are desperate enough to ship Az with anyone as long as its not Elain who they majorly dislike.

Sjm had Gwyn and Az interact - in a similar fashion to Emerie/Cass - just to throw some people off -> generate a buzz, create a discussion. But the difference is - Gwyn has magic that Azriels magic reacts too. Gwyn is a singer with musical imagery, antis misconstrue as the same musical imagery Mass uses between mates when this is canonically not the case at all. But they refuse to acknowledge it - why? Bcs then they’d have to accept elriel. So for them, its better to live in delulu land and believe Sjm would break elriel up after 3 solid books of foreshadowing them, in a bonus where she supposedly introduces Gwyn as his new LI.

Take the magic out of the bonus and just focus on the dialogue between Gwyn and Az. Its awkward. I’ve had more interesting conversations with strangers then they did. In fact - istg I had that same conversation with a teacher I came across. You ask them about your holdiay. Chuckle. Try finding something to talk about. God this is awkward, so you crack a joke. The fact Az had to force himself to talk more and be polite - just shows how him and gwyn do not fit together. Add the magic in and compare it to whenever Nesta interacts with Gwyn - both her and Az feel the same effects and emotions.

As for the necklace- the fact it is Elains, means it has no romantic value for Gwyn. Every part of that necklace represents Elain - so how can it be used for Gwyn? If Az had gone out and got Gwyn her own gift- well that is romantic buildup. But he didn’t. On top of that, its not like he was adamant who the necklace went too. He just didnt care - again how on earth is this romantic? Top it off - Gwyn doesnt have the necklace in acosf - its a safe deduction that she did not receive it therefore you can take it as Sjms way of confirming that elriels story isnt over.

It’s simple for me anon:

Sjm did not have to make elriel a thing. Both elucien and gwynriel would have had genuine stakes without elriel. if Gwyn was to be so important- even as a Li to a main character, she would have been introduced in acowar/acofas where Sjm herself stated she left clues for the spinoffs. No where in acosf or the bonus is there a clear romantic shift in Gwynriel’s relationship. I shouldn’t have to read a bonus at all to understand gwynriel is next - if that was the case, I would have come away from acosf thinking elriel ended but the fact Mass left them on a charged glance and w Nesta knowing Az likes Elain…well that’s foreshadowing and buildup 101 to an elriel love story.

Anyways, this is just my opinion that I hope you enjoyed reading about 🫶

Anyway, why do i have a feeling that akemi could, COULD, be 🤰? bc if my memory is correct, I recalled one scene where they woohooed with akemi saying she wanted no protection on? IT WAS NOT A KISS SCENE BUT IT WAS AS POWERFUL AS ONE!!!

Their THE KISS scene on season 3 episode 5 (yes i remember exactly dont ask why) it was REALLY powerful because it literally showed us the development between the two characters from them trying to kill one another (mostly Rayla) to saving each other and Callum expressing it such a beautiful way by his speech with "Because she's Rayla" Playing in the background was just TO DIE FOR!!!! it was emotional, romantic, strong! It was everything! It wasnt forced it was just there in the perfect time. I can never stop praising the shows writers enough istg. Even rn im listening to that ost in the background.

I cant lie bc it was adorable seeing these two being all lovey dovey with each other by kissing and hugging etc. But when season 4 begins, their relationship is just not there anymore. Yes there are bits and pieces but they're scattered everywhere. Callum reminiscing about her and their time together gives us half of the answer. Something happened that pulled them apart but what is it?

When he was looking out in the balcony to the sky, their theme was also playing at the background but so soft and so weak that you felt Callums' pain. It was a sad track, it was a tragic track. Raylas' memories were still there but not herself. And it made him so sad that the dude said it was NOT his BIRTHDAY but the ANNIVERSARY OF RAYLAS' LEAVING!!!! THIS BOY CARES ABOUT RAYLA MORE THAN HE CARES ABOUT HIMSELF!!!

From then on the relationship starts to have a second build up. Its like strangers to friends to lovers to strangers to ??? . The only difference of this build up compared to first three seasons is that there is already an established relationship, its just broken. So in a way they start again. Going on adventures, being there for each other in case either of them needs help. Callum doesnt let his feelings for her suppress his hurt which was also caused by her but little by little it starts to heal. It starts to fix.

Here we see Rayla admit to her mistake of going after revenge and leaving the most important thing she has behind (aka Callum obv) . Her admitting this out loud is so great to hear. Because she know she made a mistake and that mistake hurt Callum and she intends to FIX that mistake. She gives him the space he needs while also staying close enough in case he would need her. Just like Soren said "sometimes you need time to work through the weird, and then it'll work out or dont. The heart do what it do or dont what it dont"

And thats exactly what happens! With time the awkwardness becomes less and less and their hearts do the job. Their feelings for each other were never gone in the first place, and when they both finally realise that it just keeps getting better. In the form of saving friends (Zym and Soren) they remember how it felt working together which helps them get closer.

But even tho they act close their words are still apart. They dont admit it. They dont talk about it. They just go along with it. But then Rayla gets caught sneaking Runaans' bow. When Callum orders them to release her even without knowing the reason why, Rayla picks up what he's putting down. He trusts her, he doesnt push her to explain him anything because he knows that she will when she is ready. She sees that there is still a chance to make things just like before maybe even better.

(Also in this scene when they're going to the grand bookery and they cross this path, she says "its an old wound that's healing" I cant help but feel like its a parallel to their relationship. The wound of leaving for two years but now finally working through it. Its just perfect)

So yep after everything she admits it, which is also perfect because she was the one that made a mistake so she does fix it and she does it right.

"Im glad we could be here together, looking at the stars..." She says.

And Callum feeling the same way rests his head on hers. ITS JUST PERFECT AAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! THE WAY THAT THEY STILL KEEP TALKING ABOUT STARS AND THIS WHOLE SCENE HAVING AS MUCH POWER AS THEIR KISS SCENE AND DARE I SAY EVEN MORE (i dont know which wins bc i was jumping around screaming when they kissed after Callums' poetic speech LOL it was ROMANTIC ALRIGHT?! 😭😭😭😭 SAME GOES FOR THIS ONE)

And the thing is that it'ss so easy to mess up. They could've gone for a route like "hey im back after two years of absence" "Oh hi its great to see you again" And its not just the characters and their relationships but also the world that you're telling to the audience. It is so easy to get it wrong ESPECIALLY if you are writing Fantasy. With so many kingdoms, dragons, elves and other species with also magic its very very simple to mess up. Im glad that they went this way with the story telling. Its more natural, more enjoyable and it just works perfectly.
